When we’re at community events, we get a lot of questions, but there are some that we hear more than others.  Here’s one of them.

How Long Will My Bathroom Remodel Take?

That’s a very good question.  You’ve scheduled your appointment, had everyone present for the design consultation, signed the contract, paid the deposit, waited for all the materials to arrive, and an installer to become available.  You know you’ll have to go awhile without a bathroom, but how long is awhile?

It Depends

We wish we could give you an exact answer, but it varies depending on what your remodel entails.  For just a wall system, shower pan, and routine fixtures, you’re looking at a couple of days.  If you’re looking at something more complex that includes, flooring, wall demolition/construction, vanity installation, new countertop, etc., it could take a couple of weeks or longer, depending on the complexity.

The Big Variable

Even if we could give you an exact estimate on the installation time, there is one variable we can’t account for:  we don’t know what lurks below the current surfaces of your bathroom.  Our consultants may seem like superheroes, but they don’t have x-ray vision.  We don’t know what is behind the current walls until we start the demolition.  Once everything is exposed, we may find water damage, rotten wood, termite damage, etc.  Unfortunately, repair of those things add time to the completion of your restoration.
